Easy InstantPot Sambar

Sure you can grind your own batter with stones. Or you can just eat idli.

Ingredients

  • 1 tspn mustard seeds

  • 1 tbspn oil

  • 1 cup chopped onions

  • 1 cup sambar veggies

  • 1-2 cups pressure cooked, soft toor daal

  • 3 cups water

  • 100g MTR sambar paste packet (half a packet)


Directions

  • cook toor daal in pressure cooker until soft (either in pot having pre-soaked it or adding 2/3 cup of toor daal to 2 cups of water, cook in instantpot for 12 minutes on high pressure)

  • in InstantPot on saute mode, heat oil, add mustard seeds, add chopped onions, fry 3-5m until brown

  • add veggies and cooked daal and saute 2m

  • add water, bring to boil

  • add 100g (half) MTR sambar paste and boil (careful to not use too much, it's pretty strong) 3-4 minutes, according to instructions

  • add sugar to taste (1tspn ish) and turmeric (optional)

  • garnish with chopped coriander
